How to get fit and lose weight with no time, gym or equipment.

Being a 42 year old father of 3 has taught me more about fitness then perhaps any other single thing I have read, done or heard.  As a father, husband and life-long advocate of fitness and a burning desire to feel young; forever, I have realized that time is not on my side, or is it?  You see, the older we get, the more complex our lives become.  It is very convenient to make excuses to not get in shape or commit to a fitness regimen because we have so many other things that get in the way or take priority.  About 11 years ago, I too, thought that I would get caught in this “trap” or convenient excuse to not maintain my temple, the one and only body you get in this life time. As  my professional career progressed and my children’s needs became more important then my own, “my” time became less and less.  Late nites at work, travel and “I can’t make it to the gym” or “there is no time left in the day,” began to trump getting in my workout.  Ironically, during this time, I felt tired, lacked the confidence I once had and put on extra weight in a hurry.  One night after getting our 3 kids to sleep, I went into my garage with a jump rope and proceeded to do sets of rope jumping, pushups and situps for the next 25 minutes. I was absolutely wiped out, but more importantly, blown away by the  great workout I had in such a short period of time with virtually nothing but a jump rope and my imagination.  It dawned on me that if I carved out only 20-25 minutes a day (the same amount of time it takes for a shower/shave) I could lose the extra weight I had put on, get fit and NEVER have a convenient excuse again for not taking careof myself!  The process is simple: get your heart rate up for 20 minutes by jumping rope, climbing stairs in your house or jogging in place and thread in cycles of situps, pushups and lunges and you have a complete workout with no fuss and virtually no room needed.  This type of stationary, indoor workout can be done at home, in your office or hotel room for that matter.  Some simple stretching at the end for the large muscle groups of back, legs and shoulders should complete this routine.  The key to lifelong fitness is consistency and variety.  This should provide you with a little of both and enable yoto never let a convenient excuse(s) get in the way of losing weight and getting fit while we all lead such busy, hectic lives.  Remember, if you took care of your body the way some of us take care 0f our cars, you would be looking and feeling terrific.
